After-School Engineering

Stop playing video games with robots. Start building them in real life.

The "Zero to Hero" Curriculum

Our after-school program isn't just about following instructions. It's about problem-solving. Students progress through five distinct ranks, earning certification to safely use more advanced tools and fight in higher weight classes. Our makers will learn real-world engineering and manufacturing skills while designing and building robots they will be proud and excited to compete with.

Level 1

The Rookie

The entry point for all new builders. Focuses on driving skills, basic physics, and understanding how the arena works.

Project:
Assemble and customize a "Viper" kit bot.
  • Ages 8-12
  • No experience required
  • Safety Cert: Class C
Level 2

The Mechanic

For students who have mastered driving. We introduce CAD design (Siemens SolidEdge), 3D printing, and basic soldering.

Project:
Design a custom weapon for your chassis.
  • Ages 10+ (or Lvl 1 grad)
  • Intro to Soldering
  • Safety Cert: Class B
Level 3

The Engineer

Advanced concepts including basic circuits, electronics diagnosis, battery safety, and component selection for custom builds.

Project:
Full scratch-build of a 150g Fairyweight.
  • Instructor Approval Req.
  • Advanced Lipo Safety
  • Safety Cert: Class A
Level 4

The Fabricator

Stepping up to the 1lb Plastic Class. Students learn advanced 3D printing, delve deeper into CAN design, and learn basic PCB design and review circuits.

Project:
Build a 1lb Plastic Antweight with custom electronics.
  • Lvl 3 Graduation Req.
  • ESP32 & PCB Basics
  • Safety Cert: Class A+
Level 5

The Champion

The master class. Students work in teams or solo to design and build a 3lb Beetleweight using metal chassis components and high-energy weapons. Advanced fabrication and design techniques including (but not limited to) metal machining in with various materials, integrated multi-material printing, and sheet metal design techniques will be covered.

Project:
Full build of a competitive 3lb Beetleweight.
  • Invitation Only
  • Metal Machining Basics
  • Safety Cert: Master
